We recently completed work with the North East Community Action Corporation (NECAC), a Community Development Corporation serving 12 counties in northeast Missouri, to create their 2022-2024 strategic plan. A member of the NeighborWorks America network, NECAC has a broad mission, providing support to the communities they serve through housing, employment, and health programs. With an annual budget of $26 million and over 300 hundred full and part time staff, NECAC is the largest Community Action Agency in Missouri in geographic territory.     During the strategic planning process, the IBW consulting team facilitated conversations with NECAC staff and board leadership to address the following priorities:   - Prepare for planned transitions in key leadership positions - Take lessons learned during 2020 and use them to strengthen existing programs and build consensus about opportunities for growth, especially in the areas of housing development and community services - Define and align resource development needs to advance initiatives in the plan and explicitly explore ways to diversity and expand revenue development to support those efforts - Use feedback from NeighborWorks America identifying how to specifically explore ways to grow the governance capacity of NECAC’s board of directors NECAC launched full implementation of their strategic plan January 1.
