Nomination Essay
To call our manager, Rachelle Jackson, a “boss” would probably be standard in the world of business. She is the manager of our branch at a thriving Kansas City area credit union, and leads a team of 7 individuals on a daily basis, as well as acting as an experienced leader within the company as a whole. In our eyes, however, the word “boss” could never do Rachelle justice.
She is a leader, coach, mother, teacher, supporter, friend and inspiration to our team. When she came to this branch a couple years ago, business was slow and the branch location was being reconsidered. Rachelle instantly went to work building a team and setting the level of expectations high, and now, less than three years later, our branch is one of the highest performers in the company.
If I had to describe Rachelle in one word, it would be “classy”. Instead of using intimidation, micromanaging or fear to drive performance, Rachelle simply leads with class. She is someone we look up to and do not want to disappoint—she makes us want to make her proud. She expects nothing less than the best, but in turn, she makes us feel like we ARE the best. She supports our growth, and truly wants us all to become leaders and advance within the company and within our own lives. At the end of the day, we all know that she is in our corner, fighting to make our futures brighter.
As wonderful as Rachelle may be as “our boss”, I cannot neglect to share some of the things she does for the members of our credit union. They, after all, are the reason our jobs exist. In addition to her role as branch manager, Rachelle acts as a coach to members that are learning to improve their financial lives. She takes struggling families under her wing and gives them the tools and knowledge they need to pay off debt, begin to save, and build a better life. Periodically, Rachelle even goes on the local news channel to share financial tips with our community as well. As a “Savin’ Maven” she is committed to helping Kansas City area families achieve their own “American Dream”.
Rachelle is actively involved with her family, her coworkers and the community, and we truly believe that every life she touches is made better because of the way she cares. We would love to see Rachelle be recognized for her service and leadership. She truly is an inspiration, a leader and a friend, and we are very proud to call her our “boss”.
