The Greatest Boss is Lougene Marsh, the Director of the Johnson County Health Department. Lougene is an extremely intelligent, articulate and approachable boss. She is easy to talk to, has excellent ideas about how to get things done efficiently and effectively and motivates the staff to accomplish Department/Divison goals.
One of Lougene's most impressive attributes is her ability to communicate. She makes it a point to communicate with staff individually and as a whole about news, issues and/or concerns. Her door is alway open to anyone needing to talk to her. Part of my duties are to coordinate media requests for our Department. Lougene is the Department's spokesperson and does an amazing job communicating public health issues to our community. She understands the importance of this type of communication and is always willing to accomodate media requests, which makes my job much easier! I had always been in awe of her ability to understand and articulate an issue quickly and expertly. I was shocked to hear her talking to a cameraman about the fact that she had never done media interviews before; she was such a natural pro at it.
Lougene has impacted my life in a very positive way. She is great about allowing me the opportunity to manage my division as I see fit, yet also be able to learn from her experience. Someday I hope I can express myself as well as she does and make it look as effortless as she does! Lougene is a great boss and a great leader. Our organization is very fortunate to have her as our director.
