The Greatest Boss Contest

What makes a great boss? We want to hear about them and honor them. Have you had a boss who made a significant contribution to your life and career? Do you often quote them or draw from your experiences with them as you go through life? Have you told their story to others and shared how special you thought they were? Well, here is your chance to tell them and the world what a difference a Great Boss can make in your life and/or the organization.

Celebrating Great Bosses

Thanks to this summer's hit movie "Horrible Bosses" we all know what a truly bad boss looks like. Selfish? Check. Callous? Yep. Attention hogging, glory-stealing, do-nothing? You betcha. We've all heard the war stories from bad boss survivors. But, what about the good bosses? What about the men and women who inspire their staff, who mentor young workers, who lead their organizations to success with a compelling vision and empowering their employees, not crushing their spirit?

It's time to identify and celebrate the good bosses of the world with The Greatest Boss Contest sponsored by iBossWell, Inc. "We're looking for the people who embody what it means to be a great boss," says IBW president and CEO Denise McNerney. "These are the people who make a significant difference in the lives of their employees and the success of their organization because they understand that excellence is not purely the result of high level strategy. It is also driven by the connection a great boss makes between that strategy and the people implementing it. With National Boss’s Day coming up next month, the timing couldn’t be better to celebrate great bossing!” Full Contest Rules

The Greatest Boss selection panel will be looking for people who:

The three winners and runners-up will be announced in time for National Boss's Day, October 15, 2011.

"Google "bad bosses" and you'll find websites with hundreds, probably thousands of stories, about people who lack significant skills in leading or managing others," Denise continued. "But someone who bosses well can have a lifetime impact on every employee he or she directs, not to mention the success of the organization. The 'Horrible Bosses' have gotten all the press this summer, we thought the good ones deserved equal time this fall."

Entries to The Greatest Boss contest must be submitted online by midnight US-EDT on September 30 and should be no more than 500 words in length. Entries should describe the special qualities of your boss, including specific incidents that demonstrated these qualities, and comments on how this boss impacted your life and/or the organization.

Winning bosses will be profiled in contest publicity, in future publications on great bossing, and on the iBossWell, Inc. website. Additionally they will receive a Greatest Boss plaque and a gift basket from Mano's Corporate Gifts.

Winners will be selected based on the nominator's description of how well the leader displays and "lives" great leadership qualities. The contest selection panel includes: Leigh Branham, Founder/Principal of Keeping the People, Inc., Overland Park, KS; Margaret Reid, PhD., Professor and Chair, Department of Political Science at the University of Arkansas; and Denise McNerney, President and CEO of iBossWell, Inc.

iBossWell, Inc. is based in the Kansas City metro area.
